O.C.O Technology appoints new Aggregates Director

Experienced aggregates professional Barry Mellor has joined O.C.O Technology as its new Aggregates Director.
Bringing with him more than 20 years’ expertise within the construction market and specialising in aggregates, cementitious materials, and innovative low-carbon technologies.
His new role will focus on expanding the company’s carbon neutral aggregate created from its pioneering Accelerated Carbonation Technology.
Philip Atkinson, Managing Director, O.C.O Technology said: “We are delighted to have welcomed Barry to our senior leadership team. He has a wealth of experience in the aggregates and construction sectors, and we have every confidence that, under his guidance, our products will become the sustainable aggregate of choice for the UK construction market.”
Barry said: “I am pleased to be heading up O.C.O’s aggregates division at such an exciting time. Increasing awareness and use of sustainable materials within the construction sector is something I am passionate about, and I look forward to building on the excellent work already achieved by my colleagues and taking our products to the next level.”
With a sustained record of success in managing commercial, technical teams and operational teams across the construction market, Barry spent a decade in a commercial management role with Lytag (previously Aggregate Industries), including a focus on developments within the block manufacture market.
He has extensive experience working across the full construction value chain, including architects, engineers, contractors, and major material producers and most recently has held roles in the building and low carbon, clean technologies fields.

O.C.O’s Accelerated Carbonation Technology (ACT) process uses CO₂ to transform thermal residues into a lightweight, sustainable manufactured limestone.
Because more carbon is captured than is used during the manufacturing process, the aggregate is certified carbon negative, enabling O.C.O to generate high quality verified mineralisation carbon credits – the only ones of their type in the world – available through Puro Registry.
Meeting demand from the construction sector for a sustainable building material, O.C.O’s Manufactured Limestone is durable, lightweight and easily compactable and can be supplied as BlockMix for masonry and concrete projects or 6F for use in earthworks, pavements and bound materials.
