O.C.O Technology are pleased to announce that Philip Atkinson will be joining the business as UK Managing Director from Monday 1st June 2026.

Philip joins O.C.O from Grundon Waste Management Ltd, where he served as Estates Director for eight years, leading the Estates, Planning and Projects, and Engineering functions, alongside overseeing the Grundon Sand and Gravel business.

Prior to this, Philip was Operations Director at a family-owned waste management and quarrying business in North Yorkshire.  Earlier in his career, he spent seven years with Lidl food stores, progressing to the role of Property Director.

“I am delighted to be joining the company at such an exciting point in its journey” commented Philip. “O.C.O Technology is a highly respected business with a strong financial performance and a long-standing commitment to supporting its colleagues.

The business is now on the cusp of a period of rapid and significant expansion, building on its leadership in delivering sustainable, science-based solutions that enable customers to meet their evolving sustainability goals. I look forward to working with the team to build on these strong foundations and help drive the next phase of growth and innovation for the benefit of all our stakeholders.”

Philip began his career as a Parliamentary Aide, working in both the Scottish Parliament and Westminster supporting shadow ministers in the Education and Health briefs. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Quarrying, a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, and a Member of the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management.

Steve Greig, Chief Executive Officer of O.C.O commented: “I am delighted to welcome Philip as our UK Managing Director. Philip has served on the Board of Directors of O.C.O for some time in a Non-Executive capacity so is very familiar with our business and deeply committed to our future growth ambitions and our colleagues.  He brings to the role a wealth of invaluable experience which I see as an exciting opportunity and a significant step forward for both Philip and O.C.O.”

Philip’s appointment further strengthens O.C.O’s senior leadership team having welcomed Owen Michaelson as a Non–Executive Director to its board earlier this year.

Former CEO of Encyclis, Owen was appointed to support O.C.O’s international growth.

With his passion for sustainability, his knowledge and his industry understanding Owen has brought a new depth and strength to the business, having previously transformed Encyclis into a UK top six Energy from Waste operator over a four-year period, including developing one of the UK’s first full scale carbon capture plants at Protos in Cheshire.

These appointments support an exciting time for O.C.O and its ambitions to become an even bigger player within the international carbon capture market.
