O.C.O’s carbon mineralisation removal credits support Euroclear’s net zero strategy

O.C.O’s carbon mineralisation removal credits will help support Euroclear to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by 2050.
While reducing emissions remains Euroclear’s priority, the financial market infrastructure company has also chosen to support projects that remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and store it in soils, forests and durable materials as part of the sustainability strategy.
Working with carbon removal specialist CUR8, Euroclear selected a diversified portfolio of projects across Europe and the UK.
O.C.O was delighted to be one of three projects selected alongside Ecobase (Project Spruce), which supports the reforestation of degraded and low-value agricultural land using native, mixed-species forests, and Agreena, which helps European farmers adopt regenerative agricultural practices that increase carbon storage in soils while improving soil health and resilience to drought.
Their portfolio combines environmental integrity with meaningful social benefits and is expected to help remove more than 3,700 tonnes of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere in 2026. Our contribution demonstrates the role durable carbon mineralisation can play within a balanced, high-integrity carbon removal strategy.
Louis Wright, Carbon and International Manager for O.C.O said:
“We are delighted to work with Euroclear and CUR8 to support their carbon removal goals through our high-value carbon mineralisation removal credits. As world leaders in the production of these mineralisation credits, we reinvest revenue from their sale into research and development of our carbon capture technology. This means customers are supporting both carbon removal and the continued development of our technology.”
Paul Symons, Chief Sustainability Officer at Euroclear, said:
“Our net zero strategy is focused on delivering real and lasting climate impact. By investing in high-quality carbon removal projects that also create meaningful social benefits, we can help remove carbon from the atmosphere while supporting livelihoods, strengthening communities and protecting the natural systems on which we all depend. Climate action is most powerful when it delivers positive outcomes for both people and the planet.”
Euroclear has purchased the carbon removal credits associated with these projects and is retiring them as they are issued, ensuring that they cannot be resold or claimed by another organisation.
