This World Bee Day, O.C.O Technology is supporting a local bee project in the Yorkshire village of Barwick in Elmet that shares its commitment to sustainability.

Set on a nearby farmland, the initiative created by Beeyond Impact is helping to encourage pollination, support biodiversity and strengthen the connection between local industry and the wider community.

Project owner Darren Campini said: “Beeyond Impact was created to support our essential pollinators, bees, encourage biodiversity, and give something positive back to the local environment. We are proud to be working with organisations like O.C.O Technology that share those values and recognise the importance of investing in practical projects that benefit both nature and the local community.”

Sustainability and Carbon Specialist Anna-Marie Simonova added: “This project perfectly aligns with our corporate values. As a company whose focus is sustainability, we are super excited to support the local environment through the sponsorship of a beehive and connect with the wider communities where we operate. This project encourages biodiversity and demonstrates a practical commitment to environmental sustainability.”

During a visit this week, Leeds Site Manager, Lee Cheetham said: “It was fantastic to visit the hives and see first-hand the difference this initiative is making. It is a small action with a big impact not only strengthening our links with the local community but sharing that sustainability is not only about large-scale change, but also about the everyday choices that help nature thrive.”

O.C.O Technology is a pioneer in carbon capture technology, transforming thermal residue (APCr) from waste that might otherwise go to landfill into a more sustainable aggregate for use in construction. Through this innovative process, the business helps to prevent emissions from entering the atmosphere while supporting the transition to a more sustainable future.

The hives are in located in Barwick in Elmet, where they contribute to conservation helping maintain a healthier, more resilient natural environment. The initiative also reflects the true value of partnership, bringing together local businesses in a shared effort to care for the landscape.

Alongside its environmental value, the initiative offers a personal touch for colleagues, with jars of honey and beeswax melts created from their very own beehive demonstrating how local sustainability creates something which can be shared.

This partnership with Beeyond Impact not only supports biodiversity, but also reflects a genuine commitment to the local community, and long-term sustainability.
