O.C.O welcomes Gary Penk
O.C.O are delighted to announce that Gary Penk AMICT MCS CSSW has joined us as Territory Sales Manager for the Northern region.
Gary started in the concrete industry in 1989 working as a plant technician for Steetley Quarry Products in South Yorkshire. Over the next 15 years he held numerous positions in the ready-mixed concrete, aggregates and asphalt sectors including Shipper, Batcher, Internal Sales, External Sales and Internal Sales Manager, surviving the takeovers of Steetley by Redland and then Redland by Lafarge.
In 2004, he decided to change career, leaving Lafarge and starting work for a specialist waterproof admixture distributor promoting the Xypex admixture. 2 years later he set up a limited company working as a consultant for the Xypex manufacturer alongside distributors across Europe, Africa and The Middle East.
A few years later, with the effects of the recession starting to hit, Gary decided to take a fulltime role for a different waterproof admixture manufacturer, Kryton, where he stayed for 6 years covering the UK, Europe and Africa.
In 2018, he decided to return to consultancy working as an independent structural waterproofing surveyor and gaining the CSSW (Certificated Surveyor in Structural Waterproofing) qualification with the PCA.
Gary, who is an Associate Member of the Institute of Concrete Technology (AMICT) and a Member of the Concrete Society (MCS) sitting on the Yorkshire Regional Committee, says he is looking forward to the lockdown ending and finally being able to get out and meet everyone at O.C.O. face to face and develop the off take of M-LS with more regular customer contact.
Dave Olley (Aggregate Sales and Development Manager) said “Myself and the Team are really pleased to welcome Gary to O.C.O. Primarily he will be responsible for developing the aggregate sales out of our Leeds plant, but we will also be able to tap into his vast knowledge and experience in the concrete market.”
