O.C.O Technology Celebrates Landmark Year in Sustainable Innovation
O.C.O Technology has released its fifth annual Sustainability Report, detailing a year marked by global expansion, technical breakthroughs, and prestigious awards. The company received both the National Sustainability Award for Carbon Capture & Storage and the much-coveted King’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development, reinforcing its leadership in low-carbon innovation.
Among the year’s major milestones was the formation of O.C.O Technology Group Ltd, alongside new subsidiaries in Spain and Australia. The company launched Biscay Eco Aggregates through a joint venture with Petronor, further expanding its reach in Europe. Our partnership with Kobelco Eco Solutions in Japan led to the unveiling of a new brand, ‘Carbonel’, designed to promote carbon mineralisation technology across Asia.
Investment in research and development approached £650,000, enabling cutting-edge advancements such as direct flue gas carbon capture and the introduction of low carbon asphalt products like Foamix Eco.
Over 188,000 tonnes of waste were recycled, with 78.5% of the constituent materials used to make our aggregate derived from recovered or recycled inputs—a testament to O.C.O’s commitment to circular economy principles. The company’s process captured nearly 20,000 tonnes of CO₂ this year, verified through the Puro.earth carbon credit registry.
Operationally, environmental compliance remained exemplary, and all UK sites maintained their ISO certifications. Staff engagement continued to be excellent, with a 96% response rate in the annual survey and strong ratings across job satisfaction and career development.
Director of Technology and Sustainability, Dr Peter Gunning stated,
“This past year has been extraordinary – not just for our technological progress, but for the meaningful impact we’re making on carbon reduction worldwide. Our team and global partners continue to drive innovation and push the boundaries of sustainable engineering.”
O.C.O Technology continues to lead the charge toward net zero construction, with sustainability deeply embedded in its operations and product development.
