O.C.O welcomes new H&S Assistant
O.C.O are delighted to announce that Christine Oddy has recently join our team holding the role of Health and Safety Assistant, reporting into, and supporting our HSEQ Manager, Lee Thompson.
Christine has over eight years’ experience in Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality practices within the construction and engineering industries, holding previous roles such as SHEQ officer and H&S officer. She holds her NEBOSH General Certificate along with other health and safety qualifications.
Christine’s time and experience of working as an O.C.O employee is captured within her own words below-
“I began working for O.C.O Technology in the height of the COVID pandemic. It was a strange introduction to the company starting work from home.
I was introduced to the Senior Leadership Team via Teams video calls and being camera shy I wasn’t relishing the thought of doing this, but I needn’t have worried as the SLT team were generous with their time and all welcomed me warmly into the company.
Although I am based at the Leeds office, I have now been able to visit both Brandon and Avonmouth on several occasions and have got to know most of staff at each site. Delivering training to all 3 sites has helped with this.
One of the projects I have been involved with was the FOCUS on YOU campaign, the aim of which was to raise the awareness of mental health and wellbeing within the Business. This project also helped to increase my appreciation for what a forward-thinking company O.C.O is and has recently led to the Business being selected as a finalist in the APT awards for Fostering Good Mental Health in the Workplace.
I have also been given the opportunity to undergo Mental Health First Aid training. Mental Health at Work is an area I have been interested in for some time and I am looking forward to putting my training to good use by becoming a part of the O.C.O Mental Health First Aid team who can offer support to any of our colleagues who may be struggling with Mental Health issues.
In summary, my induction to O.C.O has been fantastic. All the management and site-based teams have been very supportive, friendly, and welcoming. I am also overwhelmed by the genuine respect everyone seems to have for each other and the passion they have in what is a truly unique business.”
